The Flying U ranch, located in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, was established in 1849 by an initial Crown grant made by the Queen of England. It has been in operation ever since for 167 years! People have been coming to the U for a century to enjoy unguided horseback riding on 60,000 acres of aspen lined trails, to sleep in private log cabins and for delicious western cuisine served up in the log dining hall. Here horses graze on the front lawn, children swim in the crystal-clear lake, and you can take a fishing boat out on a quiet summer night.
Each student will be assigned to a painting group at the start of the retreat. You'll have the chance to paint with all four Master Instructors during your stay.
There will be ample opportunity to paint in your group and by yourself, receive training from our excellent instructors, and socialize with fellow artists in the evenings.
The rustic and charming Flying U log cabins will be our home base for the 2020 retreat.
You can either stay in your own private log cabin or share it with another person. While some have their own bathroom, most of the historic cabins won't provide a plumbing system.
There is a central bathhouse with modern showers and a sauna for artists to relax in at the end of a long day.
Included in the price of the retreat, in addition to four days of instruction, are all your meals, snacks and coffee and tea.
The Flying U Ranch can cater to a range of dietary needs, so let us know if there is anything you need.
