Mentorship Overview:

6 weekly Live Zoom Sessions

We start this mentorship program with an evaluation of your current status, as well as an introduction to everyone in the group. Maria will discuss short and long term goals with you, which will define next steps on your artistic journey.

Each consecutive week will be built out based on where everyone is in their work and what their personal ambitions are for attending this mentorship program. Over this 6 week program you will takeaway practical ways to improve and develop your paintings.

About the Instructor - Maria Josenhans, SFCA

A passionate landscape painter, Maria Josenhans creates oil paintings both outdoors on location and in her North Vancouver studio. As an artist for nearly four decades, Maria's work plays back and forth between representational and abstract as she allows each painting to find its own unique path. Her career has been shaped by long periods of immersion in large format photography, working as an illustrator, training, competing and adjudicating Highland dance, teaching, and travelling the world by bicycle. Maria holds a BFA with Honors from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants, and continues to take part in Invitational Plein Air events both nationally and abroad.

Student Testimonials:

  • "I will definitely take another workshop from Maria. Her skill and knowledge are exceptional. I loved taking the workshop via zoom. (...). Once I was set up to paint, it was easy - everything was within arms reach. We had a critique each day, and at the end of the course, we reviewed our progress overall. Amazing. Maria gave really good critiques. So glad I took the class."

  •  "I wanted to thank Maria for a very informative workshop. I haven’t  painted in a year and had very little knowledge of oil paints and mixing colours. I learnt so much and now feel inspired to get painting again! I was a little worried how a zoom class would work but it was a great experience. I would definitely do another one!"
