Federation Academy 1310 Johnston St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3S1
Level: Suitable for All Levels
Medium: Pastel
Workshop Overview:
The heart of the workshop lies in the hands-on experience of setting up a still-life composition. Participants will set their composition arrangements with the help of the instructor considering the main elements for successful composition. followed by thumbnail sketches to explore compositions. The mornings will commence with insightful discussions on the painting process, covering topics like values, blocking in significant shapes, selectively adding or removing elements from your composition, and the art of choosing background colors and texture.
Masoud encourages participants to reflect on the essence of what they see before them. Rather than replicating every single element in the composition. Learning the elements that could cause a painting to fail. The focus is on capturing the soul of the subject – the gesture, line, rhythm, and flow of the composition. Participants will be guided to identify what stirs them about a particular flower or still life, whether it's the colors, movement, intricate design, or interplay of light and shadows. The ultimate goal is to liberate artistic expression, encouraging a shift from meticulous detailing to grasping the broader, more profound aspects of the subject.
This workshop invites you to bring your assortment of flowers or still-life objects if you wish, fostering a personalized touch to your artistic exploration. Join us for a workshop that transcends skill levels, encourages creative freedom, and enhances your ability to perceive and portray the beauty of composition profoundly and expressively.
