Workshop Overview:
Javid Tabatabaei is a world class master of watercolours and has been a prolific artist and teacher for more than 20 years. In his weekend workshop Javid will introduce participants to the materials he uses including the watercolour paints, papers, and brushes. From there, Javid will walk students through the technique he uses to prepare his watercolour paper before starting to paint beautiful urban landscapes and still lifes into existence. In this hands-on two day workshop participants will learn how to paint vibrant and dynamic urban landscapes and still lifes.
Javid's workshop is open to all levels.

About the Instructor - Javid Tabatabaei
Javid Tabatabaei is a world class master of watercolours and has been a prolific artist and teacher for more than 20 years. With a vast résumé of solo and group exhibitions around the globe (China, Turkey, Italy, Pakistan, Japan, Serbia, Canada, etc.), he has extended his passion for painting into teaching both in-person and online classes.
Javid's work explores a variety of genres, including rural and urban landscapes, seascapes, the human figure, still life and abstraction. With a strong emphasis on composition, gesture, and layering translucent colour, his paintings seem to capture the elusive, suggesting movement and aliveness.
Javid is a brand ambassador of Rock Well Art Supplies Inc., has twice been a jury member for the international watercolour society of Turkey. As the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, and part of international collections, Javid is a sought-after artist and instructor.
His friendly, supportive, and structured teaching approach provides students with everything they need to create with inspiration for years to come!

Workshop Day 1: Still Life in Watercolours
Saturday April 22nd, 2023

Capture the rhythmic, colourful forms of still lifes as you follow along in this step-by-step watercolor lesson. We'll explore the patterns of light and shadow and the varied colour. Learn how to layer and mix colours, and how to apply clean washes and controlled brushstrokes. All reference images are provided. Students will complete at least one finished painting.
