Workshop Overview (6 Sessions):
The act of manual drawing is our most immediate response to our visual world as it
equally challenges our intellectual and intuitive interpretation, our visual comprehension
and our ability to efficiently express what we see. The lingering challenge for every
representational artist is to work live using a complex abstract form as a subject. The
figure and the head in various frontal and foreshortened attitudes remain among the
most difficult. Great masters like Tiepolo, Rubens, Prud'hon and Ingres, for example,
demonstrated complex figurative compositions with great efficency and accuracy. This
rich program offers an in depth exploration into practical and fundamental visual skills for
every artist as well as a controlled progressive approach to drawing.
In this 6 WEEK TRADITIONAL DRAWING WORKSHOP, you will study 3 complimentary
methods of measuring complex, abstract natural forms from classical sculptures. Next,
you will learn how to interpret and enhance your design. Finally, you will learn to
progress from strait-line references to dynamic and accurate, full and foreshortened
contours. Finally, you will learn how to transition from line to mass drawing. Every
second week you will learn a new measuring method. Every other week, you will have
the privilege to apply what you learned in the classroom.
Join the Mark Anthony Traditional Drawing Workshop entitled: ACCURATE
OBSERVATION - CONTROLLED EXECUTION. All 6 sessions will include full
demonstrations from a blank page. Artists of all levels are welcome to join this hands-on
